Until a dedicated legal entity is established, the website and waitlist are provided by Max Grün, Riedenhaldenstrasse 257, 8046 Zurich, Switzerland.

1. Controller and Contact

Controller: Max Grün, Riedenhaldenstrasse 257, 8046 Zurich, Switzerland.

2. Data We Process

When you join the alpha waitlist, we process your email address. The email is normalized, hashed for lookup and stored encrypted in our database. We may also process technical server data created when the website or API is used, such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent and technical error logs.

3. Purposes

We use your email address for alpha access, beta access, product updates and important information about the knoot project. Technical logs are used for operations, security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention and accountability.

4. Legal Bases

For users in the EU, waitlist processing is based on your consent and steps prior to entering into a potential future service relationship. Security and operations logs are processed based on legitimate interests in secure and stable operations. For users in Switzerland, we follow the principles of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, including transparency, purpose limitation, proportionality and data security.

5. Hosting and Recipients

The current infrastructure uses EU-based hosting and high-security practices. Access to waitlist data is limited to people who need it for operations, support or alpha distribution. We do not sell waitlist data and we do not use third-party analytics trackers on this website.

6. Email Communication

After registration, we send a confirmation email. The confirmation link is time-limited. You can unsubscribe through the unsubscribe link or by contacting updates@knoot.eu.

7. Retention

Unconfirmed waitlist entries are deleted automatically after the confirmation window expires. Confirmed waitlist entries are stored until the alpha/beta phase begins, until you unsubscribe, or until you request deletion, unless legal retention or security reasons require a longer period.

8. Minors

knoot is intended to become a safer social product for younger people as well. If you are under 16, you should only join the waitlist with permission from a parent or legal guardian. We may delete entries if required consent is missing.

9. Security

We do not store waitlist emails in plain text. We use hashing, encryption, a dedicated API, rate limiting and double opt-in. No online system is completely risk-free, so we continue to improve security measures as the product develops.

10. Real People and Lawful Requests

Our goal is a social network built around real people, fewer bots and more accountability. If knoot launches verification features, we will provide separate information about the data processed for that purpose. Lawful authority requests are reviewed under applicable law and data is only disclosed where a sufficient legal basis exists.

11. Your Rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent for the future. Contact updates@knoot.eu.

12. Changes

We may update this privacy policy when the product, legal requirements, providers or data processing activities change.
